Hummingbirds
Manuel Antonio National Park is a vibrant habitat for a diverse array of Hummingbirds (Trochilidae), small yet ecologically significant birds known for their rapid flight and iridescent plumage. These nectar-feeding species, such as the Violet-crowned Woodnymph and the White-tailed Emerald, play an essential role in pollination, contributing to the reproduction of many flowering plants in the park. Their ability to hover in mid-air allows them to feed on nectar from a variety of flowers, while also inadvertently transferring pollen between plants. Hummingbirds are often found in the park’s tropical forests and along flowering plants, where their bright colors and agile movements are a captivating sight. Their presence in Manuel Antonio National Park highlights the park’s rich biodiversity and the vital ecological functions that these tiny birds perform.
