Jays - Thrushes

Manuel Antonio National Park is home to a diverse array of bird species, including Jays (Corvidae) and Thrushes (Turdidae), which are essential components of the park's ecosystems. Jays, with their bold, striking plumage, are often found in the park’s more open woodlands and forest edges. Known for their intelligence and complex social behaviors, they play an important role in seed dispersal, helping maintain the park’s plant diversity. Thrushes, characterized by their melodious songs and subtle plumage, are frequently spotted in the park’s understory and mid-canopy layers, where they forage for insects, small fruits, and berries. Both Jays and Thrushes contribute to the rich biodiversity of Manuel Antonio, aiding in insect control and forest regeneration while offering valuable insights into the ecological health of the park's tropical environment.
