Parrots
Manuel Antonio National Park is home to several species of Parrots (Psittacidae), known for their vibrant plumage, intelligence, and social behavior. These colorful birds, such as the Scarlet Macaw and the White-fronted Parrot, are commonly found in the park's diverse habitats, including tropical forests and coastal areas. Parrots are primarily frugivores, feeding on fruits, nuts, seeds, and flowers, and they play a crucial role in seed dispersal, helping to maintain the park's plant diversity. Their strong beaks and dexterous feet enable them to access a variety of food sources, while their loud, distinctive calls are often heard echoing through the forest. Parrots are important ecological agents in Manuel Antonio, contributing to the regeneration of the park’s ecosystems and offering an important indicator of the health of its tropical environment.
