Pigeons - Doves
Manuel Antonio National Park is home to a variety of Pigeons (Columbidae) and Doves (Columbidae), which play important roles in the park’s tropical ecosystems. These birds, such as the White-tipped Dove and the Ruddy Pigeon, are commonly found in the park’s forests and surrounding areas, where they forage for seeds, fruits, and small invertebrates. Pigeons and doves are essential for seed dispersal, helping to regenerate the park’s plant life. Their gentle calls are a familiar sound throughout the park, and their presence is an indicator of the overall health of the forest. With their strong homing instincts and ability to thrive in diverse habitats, pigeons and doves contribute to the ecological balance of Manuel Antonio National Park, supporting both plant and animal communities.
