Tityras - Becards

Manuel Antonio National Park hosts a variety of intriguing bird species, including Tityras (Tityridae) and Becards (Pachycephalidae), which contribute to the park's diverse avian community. Tityras, characterized by their robust bodies and striking plumage, are typically found in the park's forested areas, where they feed on insects, small fruits, and nectar. They play an important role in controlling insect populations and in maintaining the balance of the park’s ecosystems. Becards, with their subtle yet distinctive appearance, are often observed in the mid- to upper-canopy layers, where they hunt insects and build intricate nests. Both Tityras and Becards are vital to the park’s biodiversity, enriching its tropical environment through their foraging habits and ecological roles. Their presence reflects the ecological complexity of Manuel Antonio, where a wide variety of species coexist in harmony.
