Vireos - New World Warblers

Manuel Antonio National Park is a rich habitat for a variety of migratory and resident birds, including Vireos (Vireonidae) and New World Warblers (Parulidae). These small, often elusive songbirds are vital components of the park’s ecosystems, playing key roles in insect control and the maintenance of plant health through their foraging habits. Vireos, with their often olive-green plumage and energetic behavior, are typically found in the park’s forested areas, where they feed on insects and small fruits. New World Warblers, known for their colorful plumage and active foraging, are frequently observed in the park’s canopy, where they hunt for insects and spiders. Both groups contribute to the biodiversity of the park and offer important insights into the ecological health of this tropical environment. Their presence reflects the park's varied habitats, which support a wide range of bird species throughout the year.
